My Spring/Summer 2025 Fashion Trends Forecast

How do you think these trends may inspire you?

By analysing thirteen of my favourite fashion brands (Alexander McQueen, Burberry, Chanel, Dior, Emporio Armani, Fendi, Kenzo, Loui Vuitton, Maison Margiela, Prada, Vivienne Westwood, Valentino and Yves Saint Laurent) I have identified many trends and have narrowed it down to eight that appear in all brands and are sure to feature in many collections this season as it trickles down to fashion retailers.

Tailoring has been current for many seasons, but for 2025 the suit is being updated and re-imagined in more creative ways. A main element is the oversized blazer and oversized lapels. Adding patterns and colour to increase the appeal of wearing suits in the warmer, sunnier months away from the office and suited more towards occasion dressing. Wider and loose fit trousers elongate the legs, this paired with the emphasised shoulders further define the waistline and creates a striking silhouette.
The military and construction industries are well known for their recognisable attire which has inspired the fashion industry, for decades. This season creates futuristic, urban and gender fluid styling using prominent cargo pockets, oversized belts and buckles as well as neutral tones found in modern military uniforms.
Probably the most prominent feature in all the runways is the celebration of fabric's gracefulness when lightweight and sheer. This feminine and elegant way of complimenting the wearer is used in skirts, dresses and blouses but is also used in menswear with wide leg trousers made from sheer, pleated fabrics creating striking outfits and divine looks.

For a few seasons, black has been a staple in both Autumn/Winter and Spring /Summer. A powerful look, could it be that media (Netflix's Wednesday and the new Wicked film) has influenced this darker, moodier way of dressing. Wearing all black has an interesting way of signifying the wearers mood. And as seen with the brands interpreting this shade, it is being used in leather, suiting and many other ways. Black for Spring- could not be further removed from the traditional pastel shades!

Linked to the Movement trend, the use of sequin, tassels, ruffles and feathers add additional drama and dimension. All these features manipulate the outfit and when movement is added, the outfit will come to life. What I love most about this trend is how it makes the wearer feel- it makes you want to move to watch the feathers flutter and the sequins to reflect light- like magic!

Ties, fur trim collars, Tudor inspired ruffs, bows, chunky necklaces and high necklines. Each one appealing to different style personalities and so cant me interpreted in many ways! Framing the face and drawing the eye up as well as finishing the outfit.

Fashion knows no gender, I think if you like it- wear it! And fashion is always inspired by something, so who knows what the original dress or pair of tights was used for or worn by (although you may be surprised by the answer!) What I find most interesting is the styling of outfits using elements of both feminine and masculine.
The placement of a waistline can really alter the proportions of the wearer and the lower waistline elongates the torso and shortens the legs, so it's up to each individual to think about what body shape they wish to create- style is an illusion after all! If you naturally have very long legs and a short body,  you may wish to incorporate this trend in order to add length to your body and showcase your waistline.

The overall theme, I think, is the impact of fashion on the person wearing it. Neck ruffles remind you to hold your head up high. Stride forward and watch the fabric cascade around you. Dance more as sequins and feathers highlight your moves. Feel empowered in your power shoulder, tailored suits. Mysteriously conquer in you intimidating dark shades. Be brave in your military inspired clothes. And wear whatever you want, no matter how you identify.

As I always say, allow trends to inspire you- and certainly give them a go next time you're out shopping! But make sure you include trends in to your look because they genuinely make you happy and not just because the industry is selling them to you. Trends will come and go, confidence in yourself is timeless.
